CMOS:- Complementary Metal Oxide Silicon.
Also known as 4000 series. A very low power logic, with the following features:-
Supply voltage 2 - 18 volts. Voltage swing is 0 V to supply voltage.

Maximum speed 10 MHz. Extremely high input impedance, and inputs will float if not pulled high or low. Power consumption virtually zero if not switching, rising with switching speed.

HCMOS:- High speed CMOS.
Often called HC, as in 74HC00. Also very low power, but faster, and supply voltage 2 - 6 volts. Voltage swing is 0 V to supply voltage. Maximum switching speed about 40 MHz. HCT series, as in 74HCT00 has similar speed, power and output characteristics, but input levels like TTL. Still higher speeds available with VHC series and ACMOS.
