Design & Production

Our in-house, computer aided design and
manufacture enable OnSpec to produce
oscillators that meet customers'
specifications with exact precision,
from design to delivery.

It is our flexibility at the design
stage, using computerised design, that
allows our customers to specify their
own frequency, pulling range, stability
and waveform - without any specification
restricting any other.

 

OnSpec's oscillators can be made to any
frequency within the available range.
Not only standard frequencies such as
10 MHz or 20 MHz, but absolutely any
frequency in the range is available.

Use of Technology

The use of modern technology throughout
production means that our clock oscillators
are adjusted automatically by computer.
Extra silver is deposited on the silver
electrode on the quartz crystal while the
oscillator's frequency is constantly
measured by the computer, until the exact
frequency is achieved.

The essential temperature testing and
set up of ovened oscillators are fully
computerised for the utmost accuracy.
The ovens in the ovened oscillators made
by OnSpec are individually set to the
optimum temperature to give the completed
oscillator the best temperature stability.
This individual setting is made using a
computer to take account of the variations
between different crystals.

 

Rigorous Testing

Having been assembled, all of OnSpec's
oscillators are tested thoroughly using
accurately calibrated testing equipment
capable of measuring all the frequencies and
temperature stabilities of the new oscillators.

The frequencies of ovened oscillators are
regularly measured by computer, until their
day-to-day variation is acceptable, (less than
10 parts per billion per day).

All the oscillators for which temperature
stability is important are then tested again,
using an environmental chamber.
In this chamber the oscillators are subjected
to a range of extreme temperatures while their
frequencies are continually measured.
This rigorous testing ensures that the
frequency variations over the entire operating
temperature range meet customer's specifications.

We can trace the origin of every component we use,
and hence guarantee the quality of every oscillator.
