OnSpec has recently been given the task of designing a control unit for a 36" reflector telescope at the University of Cambridge observatory. Because the frequency of mains electricity is not constant the telescope cannot track the sky consistently so OnSpec have designed a control unit which measures the frequency of the electricity and adjusts the output to the motor to compensate.

Another example, OnSpec's Voltage-controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXOs), have a control range guaranteed from nominal frequency. The frequency of a 250 ppm VCXO at 16 MHz, when the control voltage is smallest, to at least 250 ppm above 16 MHz, when the voltage is largest. In addition, some VCXO'S have adjustment guaranteed at a centre control voltage.

OnSpec's RVC-C030 range of oscillators was developed to provide a guaranteed adjustment of a VCXO at a particular control voltage, where a large pulling range is not needed.
